Couples therapy

As a couple, are you wondering:

How do I manage the stress in my relationship?

How do I restore the connection I once had with my partner?

How do I heal from an affair?

How do I keep my relationship from falling apart?

If you are looking for a therapist near you who is experienced in relationship issues, this service may help you. I work with pre-married or married, divorced or separated, and opposite or same-sexed couples who experience relationship distress.

Common issues among couples seeking a marriage and family therapist include:

  • Attraction and intimacy

  • Body Image Concerns

  • Co-parenting issues

  • Communication Habits & Disputes

  • Dishonesty or unfaithfulness

  • Irreconcilable differences

  • Substance abuse or internet dependencies

  • Mental illness affecting one or both partners

I use an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which helps struggling couples to understand their arguing styles and triggers as well as to

find new ways of seeing one another through conflicts. For couples seeking to strengthen their relationships, this therapy service has proven to be very successful.

I also work with struggling couples to practice what is called “Nonviolent Communication” (NVC). This type of communication uses a four-step practice of 1) stating observations, 2) naming feelings, 3) connecting feelings with needs and, 4) utilizing time-specific, reasonable requests with the goal of turning animosity or indifference into constructive conversations.
